He didn't waste any time shedding that velvet. He will be a very nice one in a year or two.
I may be opinionated...but, my opinion is the only one that matters anyway.

no High fence operation, But back in the 60's the state game dept, came to this farm and installed a 8 ft tall fence around the crop field to try to work with farmers back then for crop damage, its about 70% still standing, but several large open spots, and holes in it, but to be honest, the deer jump over it like its not there, seen them many times jump over it even with an open section just a few feet away, they just don't seem to care about it, maybe too many generations of deer just jumping it or??
and believe it or not he is a 3 yr old deer now, and thats a very hard thing for most bucks to see here, very few make it past there second yr, so for him to make it another yr or two is very low odds, but I do try to keep them on the farm best I can, but lots of poaching and trespassing isn't easy
and its sad too, as almost all the lands about this farm are posted and NO hunting is allowed on all but 50 acres that border it
I should have a gold mine here with the set up, but no one follows the rules here so???

He is a nice looking buck hopefully he will make it. I know you said your GW won't do anything about the poaching. And that's sad.
