There are three species of swans that can be found in Ohio: The native trumpeter swan, tundra swan, and the mute swan. Unfortunately, the non-native mute swan will often out-compete with the threatened trumpeter swan on Lake Erie marshes and other locations for nesting habitat. Public lands owned and managed by the ODNR Division of Wildlife provide valuable habitat for many species of migratory birds that come through Ohio each year.
