I'm all set to hit the stand tomorrow morning, then it's family time the rest of the weekend. Youth football tomorrow afternoon, trick or treat tomorrow evening, and more youth football activities on Sunday. I'm gonna try to get out sometime Monday and/or Tuesday as well. Then dad comes up from NC next weekend and it'll be hardcore hunting for a few days, if I don't kill a buck before then. Then it's all him...I won't go out and shoot a doe until he's done at this point, maybe video.

Well had some good luck and some bad luck this morning. Got set up in plenty of time decoy and all, absolute Beautiful morning, cold, calm, crisp, and dead silent in the woods. So about 8:30-8:45 I hit the antlers together for a min or two, and it wasn't 1 maybe 2 minutes at the most, here walks in a lil 8 pointer from behind me. I can see he's small so I break our my phone and start the video camera on it. He walks in, sees the decoy, postures up big time, walks over and scent checks him. Overall I was able to get about 7-10 minutes of footage of him (different clips) and he hung around for prolly 15 minutes or so then mozied off. About 9:30 or so 3 does walk the edge of the corn field and woods, step inside the corn so I give them a few short soft grunts, they hit the corner of the field and stop. Well momma doe doesn't want anything to do with the decoy yet but the 2 yearlings are very curious. They enter the woods after bit, I range a tree at 34 yards, 1 steps in front of the tree and momma starts stomping. You know what that means, they're about to be leaving real quick. So I draw and let it fly, this doe must have dropped a foot, and the arrow goes right over her back. They spook for a minute but not entirely. A range another spot where it looks like they might step, 45 yards, long story short, again momma starts stomping that damn foot again, so I had to draw and let another arrow fly, she jumps and turns at the same time and I thought I hit her. A minute later they exit the thicket and all walk across the beam field together. Arrows were both clean. Now as you can imagine I'm mad as hell, just had 1 duck my arrow and missed another. I know I'm good out to 35-40 yards. So I go home and shoot the block 35 yards I hit bullseye! Move to 45, and shoot about 8" high. Well a month OE so ago I had to get my cables looked at and the guy said the bow was not tuned properly so he adjusted it and I had to resight it in. Apparently I didn't sight my 45 pin in like I thought I did. So the 1st doe just ducked it and I just missed the 2nd. Anyways jumped another 2 on the way out. So I saw 6 this morning but was unable to fill a tag...and my freezer. I'll be trying again Sunday and maybe Monday.
I live life at full draw....

Had another small buck come in on me this evening then a neighbor came through on a 4 wheeler. It chased off a deer I hadn't seen and I couldn't tell what it was when it left. Monday will be my next time out. I may try an all day sit. I am off for the next 2 weeks now after tonight.

If you can get into the deer woods tomorrow, do it. I have heard from a lot of people the chasing is on big time.
