I have a trip planned next weekend to go down to salt fork state park to bowhunt. For anyone who's been there how is the hunting? What are some tips in that state land?

I used to own a farm not far from there before I bought a bigger place in another county. Lots of public land and lots of deer which also means lots of hunters. Study your aerial and topo maps and find the best looking spots that are the hardest/furthest to get to. Once you find a few of those types of places on the maps, get back in there and do some scouting. There are some monsters in there if you work hard and smart. Try to hunt week days too if you can. Good luck.
I hunt several different parcels near the park...there is a lot of land. I've walked some of the northern portion near the lake, not a lot of sign there. I would go to the southern part of the public land and give that a try. If get out before anyone else and hope they push deer to you.
