Personally I would try not to use someone elses stand especially the grandsons. I would not to be to keen on someone using my stand. Especially putting a mineral block in the area as well. I am just thinking there has to be enough room there to come up with your own setup. At least if you do use the grandsons try to leave it like you were not there. So I would find another setup and move the block to that location. I would try to avoid issues with the grandson in case he decides to sneak in a quick hunt for his own sanity before the wedding.

I agree with this nothing like someone else hunting your stand

That was my first thought. And there the land owners stands. He bought them for his grandson to use. And keep insisting that I could use them which had me confused at first. I didn't want to offend or upset the man as well and don't want to upset the grandson either. I did however have to clear put a lot of smaller brush that was in front of the stand. About 3 ft wide by 15 yards or so to clear a path just to get to the stand freely. I had the discussion about his grandson and he said he was almost positive he's not hinting or he would of already been in the woods clearing out the stand.

As for more room there is and there isn't kinda complicated on how his woods are setup but. The stands that are currently setup are probably smack dab in middle of his plots.
The good one is on the souther 1/3 and the smaller stand is on the northern 1/3 . I can't go east because there isn't Much clearing or trees to work with. And if I go west out of range. It's the same path that the deer come into that area so I'd be hunting the same spots... Kinda a pickle in a hard place. I do think I can hunt property edge on the south side but I don't want to risk trespassing.

I'm going back in 2 weeks to look at the cameras and I'll have another discussion about his grandkid to find out what he wants me to do. Because I do feel bad there not using it.

Thanks for the help guys you all rock. And these are things that I just don't know which is why I ask.

The blue lines are the atv paths. The outside lines are his property edge just about. The two waypoints are the 2 stands. The one to the left is the smaller older stand. And the one to the right is the new field and stream dual person stand. The way he explained it to me is they come from the south and head north directly under that stand and head out of the tree line to the clearing where the power lines are at. So my options could be move top right corner . Or top left corner of the plot. ??????

I too strongly agree, NEVER use others treestands, un;ess your darn good friends with that person and they tell you to!
even if the land owner says OK< the guy who hunts out of them might have issue's with you using them, and them issue's might cause streesss between them and the land ownrr and that can some times lead to the pwner picking side's
and normally Family wins that war!

I have had issue's many times with finding folks using my stands and can tell you, its Pissed me off every sinlge time, someone used one of my stand '
    's, for these reasons
one I spent the time to set stand up,
two, I have no idea what scent control they practice, and or what there hunting skills are
as IF they get busted they can ruin that set up on me??
    thus further making me Mad
Three, I personally and so do many hunters, save stand sites for different time so f the season, or just to NOT over hunt a stand
if someone is usning them without me knowing, I have NO way to know hopw often a stand is being hunted, and I can be wasting my time sitting in a stand that had put pressure on deer in that area!

My suggestion to you would be to contact this gradson, get to know him, work with him, an DON"T just go by the landowners call
YES , he owns the land, and can say so, but again, if this grandson gets mad, and make's a fuss(very easy to see happening) you could end up loosing out more than he will!

Hunting over food plots is great, you normally get to see a lot of things and can surely kill a nice buck in one
BUT its also just as good setting up behind/farther bnack from one too, maybe even better,
due to food plots are open, and most smarter older bucks, tend to stay out of open area's in day light, thus being in a staging area behind a plot, can work out better some times
so I would check out places like this for possible stand site's
and look for places to set your own stands up
    and??
I would also try working with the Grandson on stand set up and when or IF he will be there, as again NOT to over hunt one area
like if he plans to MAYEB hunt in first week in Nov, ask where on the farm he wants to hunt, and hunt different sides?? away from him, , two guys hunting same area and NOT talking to each other, can lead to them walking in on your sets, or vise versa, making an early morning sit go south fast if they like to show up at 8 am, and walk thru where your sitting, or leave early or??
hunting the same property, is always best to work together, will up both your odds of tagging out!
and will build a stronger relationship with the land owner, and who know, possible land owner, people tend to leave things to family, so being nice to this grandson, might pay off down the road if he ends up with them place some day!
    things to think about maybe??

thanks for the help mrbb, ill talk to the owner and have him make contact with the grandkid and go from there, he did tell his mother and she was all for me hunting there as well, and i do see both sides of the story, as for food plots there really isnt any good food plots that i know of anywhere near these lands besides the acorns on the ground in the woods and the farm a few properties away, i think they are bedding in his woods and the neighbors next to him.
ill probably scout that north east corner near the power lines about 50 yards in the woods and see if i can find a small clearning or a decent setup where i can setup a my climber at , which i did find alot of tracks in the woods, but i would be maybe 75 yards away from there stand that is currently up. because his woods is not that big, i would bet the area of hunting is maybe 5-8 acers, and huntable land is probably 3-4 acers, rest is too tick or all hills.

did swing by today as i was working on a neighbors house of his and spoke with him for about 10 mins, and i asked him if his grandsons knew i was hunting his land and he said yes he told them the other day and they was ok with it according to him, he did ask that i let him know when i plan to hunt so he can let them know according as well, which i said i would do for him as its the least i could for himself being hes letting me hunt there land.
so far it seems like everything will work out ok.
