    any one see this?

OK was looking thru the outdoor channel, and came across , WILDGAME NATION< they had a show on about hunting waterfowl with a cross bow??
any one besides me think this is NOT what hunting shows shoud be showing on TV
I mean come on, that's all we need is someone not knowing all the details to be shooting at ducks and geese flying with broadheads??
I mean I'm all for getting to be a great shot, and even OK with trick shooting
but to be doing it on a hunting show, at wildlife?? just doesn't seem right to me
just cause something can be done to me, doesn't mean it should be done?

Off and on for years it's been on so many different shows, mostly bowhunting though. Some have used flu-flu arrows while others seem to have that endless supply of arrows we all pay for by watching their shows. Is it right or wrong, heck I don't know. Just wait for the day when a goose shows up at the local park with an arrow sticking out of it's ass and I'll tell you then.

Isn't that the truth Big Holla. Personally I wish some of these hunting shows would get away from the horn porn/product placement and focus on habitat improvement and conservation. Possibly add in some how two segments. Like how to read topo maps how to effectively scout and those things that make a hunt successful. Its not the equipment its hunting location and stand placement. But hunting shows these days are not about teaching but more about sponsor plugs and hunting the huge named deer. In some cases it seems that taking quality shots isn't always a priority as long as they can get it on film.

I am all for guys hunting mature bucks. There are some great hunters on this site who are absolutely phenomenal hunters and have more mature bucks on their wall than most guys will see in a life time.

I don't know what it is but the newer hunting shows just rub me the wrong way so much so I just don't watch them anymore.

I agree they need to get away from horn porn and get back to the basics I don't even let my son watch any of the hunting channels I think it instills something different from what I was taught hunting is

00buck I agree. I was taught hunting was much more respectful than what happens. Plus the post shot celebrations are pretty ridiculous as well.

I pretty much stopped watching these shows for the past 8 yrs or so, all too much about selling products, and hunting in prime places few folks can afford
very little hunting skills being shown, or outdoormanship skills, its just more shooting skills, and they edit way too much of the real world blunders and misses, and they seem to lie at will, about every buck they seem to kill being a MATURE one, even one's that don't look very aged to me at all, or score well
or is it just they cannot just admit they killed a small buck just to get a kill on camera?
hunting isn't what it once was, I won't blame it all on TV show's
but they sure don't help to keep hunters hunters
now its all or seems to me to be about size of racks, and only hunting Prime dates, and private manicured deer hot spots
most that come with big price tags to hunt at!
hunting now a days seems to be less about the challange and the meat you can have
and all about proving you can kill "X" sized bucks, using the best and lastest equipment!
like folks are trying to out do each other, and that was never why I hunted
I did it cause I enjoyed the outdoors, the personal challange of seeing myself get better at it
kills and bigger bucks came as ways to challange myself more, not bragging rights
Oh well, My 2 cents I guess

I agree with you mrbb I hunt for meat not head gear and that is the way I want my kids to grow not worrying about hunting ranches and all the new products out there people have been hunting along time without all the new technology
