your right mrbb, the drive home for me was easy, but for my hunting partner, who only saw two does all week, it was long. He help me a great deal with getting him out. I felt bad for him. He did take it well.

My partner and I hunted for 6 days. The day started at 3:15 every morning and ended about 7:15. For the most part we sat all day sets. Sometimes we moved at midday but I only did that twice. My sightings for the week was 4 bucks and one doe. It just so happens that one of those bucks was a dandy. We believe that we were early and the rut was not happening at all. No chasing, little grunting, and didn't seem any buck I saw or heard was interested in me calling.
We hunted public land and saw some hunters on the road coming in, but once we got back 1 mile or further we never saw another hunter. The spot we hunt had lots of sign, but the scrapes were not being tended at all. They were full of leaves. Rubs were plentyfull. It was a successful hunt for me and I was very happy. Next year I believe were are going to pay more attention to the rut predictions before we book a cabin. Hopefully there will be one open. That buck which I green scored at 163 3/8 is the biggest of my life. I am going to have him scored, and will let you know the net score. Ohio is a great state for anyone wanting to hunt public land. There are more of them out there.
