If your first deer congrats ! How about taking a doe and letting the little guys walk.
Sucks to waste a Buck Tag. Your going to miss the best time of the year !

Who are you to say he wasted his buck tag? Its his biggest buck to date and he was thankfull for the animal. Doesnt sound like it was wasted to me!

rrennec2 I can understand how you and others may feel I wasted a buck tag, however I am by no means trophy hunting. The reason for my hunting is one to get out in nature and enjoy myself, two I feel connected to my grandfather who taught me the joys of hunting before his passing, and lastly it is a way to provide for my family. I certainly wouldn't give anyone grief for harvesting any animal as long as it wasn't wasted. The lord knew my intentions during this hunt and yet it may not be a trophy in the eyes of some other hunters but it was what he blessed me with that day.

On another note for those interested I did receive a reply back from grim reaper today asking a few questions about my set up and shot and was assured that I would be taken care. I sent my reply back just waiting to hear back when I have something to update I will.

My first bow kill (6 yrs ago),was a gangly little 4 pt with 3 tiny antlers on one side and a turned down cow horn looking thing on his other side. You'd have thought I killed a 20 pt monster buck, I was so happy! I have his awkward rack up on my wall. By the way, the venison was delicious...the antlers, well ya know!

That is a great photo Strut..... what a conversation piece! Even if you have a room full of trophies some day.... that one may still be your favorite......
