Well our archery season is over so I started another one of my hobbies lately.

Theirs a little of everything around and thats my first fisher but I really like catching coyotes.
do you get in any of the coyote contest??
some big $$$ one coming up soon
here is a link to one of the biggest one's here in PA
first second and even third prize is normally over 2 grand each
with first being closer to like 5 or 6 grand every yr

second link is to show you the pay outs last yr as an example
as pay outs are based on how many get in the contest, but for the past few yrs its just been getting bigger and bigger and they do a heaviest female too, with was over 7 grand last yr too, so?? not a bad deal for a try!

I don`t get in them but I`m pretty sure you cann`t trap them for the contest.I have caught 4 in the last week and had a couple step everywhere but on the pan last night.I know this is an archery site but who else traps?
I didn't know there were fisher in PA. I always think Canada for those. So I'm guessing NY has them also.
I may be opinionated...but, my opinion is the only one that matters anyway.
yes they are 100% hunting only, no trapping
BUT, like I see them, just a reason to get out in the cabibn feaver time of yr, and maybe a bonus if you get lucky and get a BIG one
just didn't know if you knew about them or not, this ine is state wide, I think even covers Ohio and maryland too!
I don`t know about Ney York. They brought them to Pa a few years ago and just opend up the area where I live to trap them this year. The season is only 5 days long and you can only keep one.I have been taking walks in the snow the last couple years trying to figure out where they run and it paid off.
I haven't set a trap in over ten yrs. Those pictures sure does bring back the fever. Here in NH we have alot of fisher. Have you tried the running poles set with a 220. I am a life member to the New Hampshire Trappers Asso. Times have change so much over the years that it was getting harder and harder to get land owners to give written permision. And with out that no trapping in NH. So now I'm a bow hunter who misses the fur shed. And that first picture is a really big coyote. Is that a double on the fox picture. I need to quit, I could talk trapping all night.
what goes around, comes around. (I sure do hope so)!!
Excellent pictures Forestman!! Great to see you carrying on an old tradition and doing very well at it! If you could, update this post with pics the rest of your season if you would please!! Love seeing this stuff and would love seeing some how to's as well. You able to do any snaring there?
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
