well Youth you look like you have some great bucks there, and both you and your unting area got better, I recall when you came on here saying how your hunting area wasn't so good LOL
Also,
Last time I seen you you were a a lot younger, must be eating some Wheaties since I seen you last , you grew in some too LOL

and Glad to know you like them cam's and your buck made it thru gun season, he's a good one, and will be a lot better this yr too I bet!
best of luck tagging him, or maybe even finding his sheds!
Good luck and thanks for posting some pic's, NOT many folks doing that here these days LOL

It's a hassle but, I got property I can hunt in Athens. It's a three hour drive for me, so when I get a chance I go down on the weekends. This year I'm trying to put a plot in down there. I got in real good with the owner and he loves me. It gets annoying when I can only go down for one day, get up like 2am....Hopefully, I'll have a lot more pictures to add this year. After I graduated, I was sick of being tiny. lol...I started going to the gym, I was getting pretty big for a while. Had a little set back now with a shoulder injury, from softball of all things.

well Athen's area is a great area, it where I hunted, only I had a 7+ hr drove to get there LOL
BUT sadly I lost my spot there , when the owner passed away not so long ago, and his wife decided to move back to Ca. where her family was, and sold the place to the local oil company
BUT I have heard its back up for sale, MINUS mnineral rights??

wish I had the extra coin, I'd buy that place in a heart beat, hunting was always awesone with big bucks all the time!

Traveling to hunt has its down sides, but has pro's too, I causes you to be more focused when your there, and doesn't lead to over hunting it LOL
makes for good memories too

and its always great to be in good with the owner, but due to how things worked out for me here in PA on teh farm I managed, I have to say be careful how much you invest into the place, some times things go wrong, even when the relationship is great, as it was for me too
then some long lost family member showed up with a lawyer and I got screwed, lost a LOT of money and 20 yrs of my time and work.
so tread carefully!

Fair points, I had that concern a few years ago. It's the only legit place I have to hunt though, so I'm stuck. It's an older couple that spent there whole life living down there (The guys family settled in athens back in the late 1800's, owned over a mile of farm land) I got lucky he loved my grandfather. I just try to help whenever I can, I started with the trail cameras two years ago, I give them some pictures and they absolutely love it. They offer me to stay at the house all the time, calls me just to chat. I'm hopefully it'll last a while, but even last year a family offered them a lot of money to hunt it. They turned it down....but who knows for how long.

outh wish you the best and hope they hold true
I stared like you trail cam pic's(35 mm film days LOL) and that lead to them calling me there adopted som=n, when they would introduce me to people, had full say so on the farm, all but the timber, as they were attached to thetree, sand didn't want to see them cut, BUT finally got that done, then a few months later it went south fast from again a sneaky falimy memebr!
I even was so invlved with the owners had powewr of attorny over them , 3 owners at the time, and I burried 2 of them and was in charge of there funerals, and told I was the only one they wanted to have the place
BUT as the last one was in the hospital for a semi minor deal, this crook snunk in and had owner sign a legal deed over to hi, before I knew it, owner was planning to sell me the place at the end of the week, and still talked about it 2 days before he died, was being released from hospital, on his way home and blood clot killed him getting into his ride home!
I know he had NO idea what he signed, and tried to fight it, BUT legal paperwork is tuff to beat!
and everything I put into the place I lost like that!
all in one slip of a pen and a sneaky family memeber
and one I never even knew existied, lived 800 miles away and was never on the farm in 30+ yrs, DUMB luck someone told him some how owner was sick and last one standing, and he took advantage of him being uneducated
showed up in hospital with a lawyer and fully drawn up deed, all he had to do was sign and left!
crap happens
I regret never getting anything in writing BIG time, (I did ask a few times but was always assusred NOT needed) BUT for all them yrs, and the owners being old school where they felt a hand shake and a mans word was all thats needed,Hated lawyers with passion!
IT burned me HUGE,
I'm very embarrased how much money I lost when this happened!, that I knew better but still went along with the plan I was offered!

some times you gab=mble and win and some times you loose
I lost here, and sadly know of a LOT of things like this, so really knew better LOL
thats life, ups and downs!
BUT your young, so offering a little of advice, before investing a lot, get something on paper
never know when a jerk will crawl out from under a rock LOL
enjoying things now is great, but buying now for later is a better road I think!

best of luck to you Kill a big one there for me, I gave up deer hunting I think after the crap I ben in the past few yrs LOL
still enjoy seeing others, just no heart in it for me anymore!

Yea, that is very unfortunate, sorry to hear about all that. I'm worried the samething will happen at some point, that why I'm hoping to invest in my own place like you said.

Smart move Youth, to think this way. Nothing beats your own land. I am lucky I have access to many many thousands of private acres to hunt and use, still have my hunting camp. And have access to land in many states too.
But some times you find a spot that just feels like the place you been looking for more.

I hope some day you get one of these places to call your own too!
