Here's my 2014 Ohio bow kill. Shot him sat dec 13th and after a sleepless night recovered him the next day. Couldn't be happier! Thanks for the comments so far. Here's a pic of him. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/12/15/de46de27d4b5d606358a37ce31a9f1aa.jpg

Yea mrbb, it was a long night. lol. I thought the shot looked good and even played it back when I got home. It was a little low so I felt like I should leave him be. Glad I did!

I guess I kinda do since I've been a taxidermist for 15 yrs. lol. But I've only mounted about 4-5 of my own. Never seem to have the time.

That is totally cool. How did you learn the trade? Is it your off season business? Just curious. I think it is a really cool thing and takes a lot of talent to do it right.

I actually bought some videos yrs ago. Then a lot of practice from there. Believe it or not photography kinda got me into it. As I chased deer with a camera I look back at the pics Id taken and realized a lot of my bucks on the wall didn't look even close to what I had photographed. So it kinda went from there. I have a full time job so I do it in my spare time. I tan everything as well.

very Nice there Mike
I have said it many times
MOST folks don't know the difference between a GOOD mount and a so so one
most guys come to find out the difference ONLY when they put what they thought was a GOOD one, next to a actual good one!!
and its also why there are so many taxidermist that do so so work and stay in business!
a GOOD taxidermist is NOT easy to find, all the more so one that ALWAYS does good work
as many do a good one, then get busy and get sloppy!
and then you never know what your getting back!!

after my guy stopped, I still haven't fond a good one up my way, they all have a mix of NICE one and crappy mounts in there showrooms?? gave a few a try over the yrs, and got burned a few times doing so!

Congratulations... Great motivation for late season hunters. Just as I was beginning to regret some of the bucks I passed up... I see what you were able to pull off in mid December. On the same day... I see my big drop tine in the field chasing a doe. Here we go again... living in the woods...

Not sure yet. Wasn't too worried about it really. lol. I was glad to get a buck on the ground. We hunted hard this yr and I seen him a lot and just couldn't make it happen. Glad my luck turned around.
