sorry for being away for months guys but been super busy this spring/summer trying to enjoy live , but its that time of year again to start thinking about hunting (and odds are im behind the 8ball again this year LOL) . but i did manage to finally get my live deer camera and feeder working. and im tickeled how well its worked now i got the bugs worked out on it.

ill give you all a refresher so you can remember and understand.
last winter i convinced my grandmother that lives 3 hours south of my location in kentucky to allow me to wire and monitor her wildlife for her, she wanted something she could watch when she wanted but i also wanted a way for me to monitor when im not down there whats going on. so came up with an idea of doing a wired ip security camera and setup threw her internet so i can monitor any time of day i wish, or she can watch when she wanted. Anyone for that matter could watch it if they had the login info i setup.

but i installed everything back in may and sometime within a few weeks water got into the connector and shorted out the 180$ waterproof outdoor camera so i wasnt happy one bit, i finally managed to get down there and look at it, which i wasnt prepared to fix that kind of issue so had to take the camera home with me so i can work on it when i had the free time, also the squirels decided they wanted more corn from the feeder and chewed apart the power line that came out the bottom of my feeder that connected the motor, dumb animals...

so this past weekend i managed to get more free time and went back down to setup everything again, and after 12 more hours of working on the wiring and figuring out the color combos of the ethernet cords and the camera to make sure i had everything setup, i did manage to get it working and this time i went overkill on wiring it, so it WONT happen again. or so i hope....

here are some pics that i got monday morning before i left to head back home! and some setup pictures to understand how it works and layout and all that fun jazz.

3mp, HD ip camera, infered night vision, water proof. can log into a website from any pc , or my camera app from any droid or iphone and can watch it anytime i wanted.
ran 350ft underground cat6 cable, with a power injector feeding power to the camera threw the cat6 cable. Hooked up everything inside a phone nid box (got from my work, twc) to keep everything water tight.
a clean simple hook up, hardest part was digging the cat6 cable to put it underground lol. but well worth it

as for the deer feeder, its set to 7am for .5lbs of feed, and then 730 pm with 1.5 lbs of feed, corn, out of a moultrie tripod 30 gallon feeder, wired a solar pannel and rechargable battery to it so its all on its own system and will aways have power. holds just short of 150 lbs of feed. which for me is about 2 months or so.

total setup was right at 500$ but like i said it was a challange but a blast to work on, and as you see in one of the pictures, nothing like having wild turkey feeding off it the first day i got the camera reinstalled. the feeder has been there since april/may and has had corn in it the whole time.

yea anyone is welcome to watch it if they want, can only be viewed by pc by going to http://213chrisp.noip.me and it will ask for user name and password, both are "ruby" also for the first time you will load it and it will ask for a plugin for the camera to work, let it load and it probably will load it but wont get a pic so log out and back in and it should work. i know doesnt make alot of since but something to do with the program the camera uses.

yea her deer population is being weird the past few years, there not as visual as they use too, when my grandfather was around he would feed them but hes been gone for 10 years so i think they have moved away, i know she does still have a few deer here and there, and obviously there is turkey, so im sure there are some around just going to take time before the realize there is a constant food source here again, next time i go down im going to toss a salt block under the feeder and put some kind of attractant there to see if i cant get them drawn to the feeder.
