Also the PA state legislature is trying to pass a bill to create a bounty on coyotes. What a waste of money if you ask me as bounties have been proven not to work.

Well Nomad, I think I dis agree, when many yrs back 5here was actual money to be made, a ton more folks targeted critters just for money, and in todays economy
I would think more folks would be out there if cash was possible
that said, I could care less if they offer a bounty on coyotes, I like to see them, there cool critters, and in my opinion, they target the sick old and maybe some of the fawn
I need there help , so I try not to kill any
but with 30 grand on the line, I will hunt them and look for BIG ones only, 30 is a lot of motivation if you ask me
and again its a state wide hunt anyone can get in

30K thats one heck of a pot. As to the bounty they tried it out west for years and although the money was there to be had even the increased pressure didnt make a discernible difference in the population. Also how do they plan on paying for that? Is it coming out of the game fund? If that is the case as we have discussed there are a lot better ways to spend that money.

HAHAH I agree thet game dept can do better with funds than this
but here in PA, if you go back in time some, when they had bounty's on hawks and predators, it actually worked, almost to the point of wiping out hawks in many area's
out west you have to to remember that human populations are far and few as to here in PA, and lets not forget, that Pa rwesidents tend to be trigger happy country folks LOL
I know I sold guns and held weekend shoots for almost 15 yrs, where all any one there wanted to do was here a gun go bang, could care less what they were shooting at
so, in PA's economy, and offering money to kill something, I see many many folks in PA< jumping on board
I don't really think we have a coyote proble, to be honest, so don't see the need to have this, if they are pushing for it, but I can see how it would cause more folks to get out there and shoot coyotes
but again, if th gaol is to help deer, by killing coyotes, I see way betterways to spend funds for that cause, heck, I see timbering as a way they can make money and not have to spend it and do more good!
but with the coyote contests they hold in my area, the fact everyu yr the number of folks getting into them going up, proves to me that when money is on the line, more people will go out and try!
I am now in 3 different contest , starting soon
and if not for the contest, odds are I wouldn't be out hunting them at all
so I am guilty of the prize money lure LOl
