What week should I take off work? October 29 or November 5th?

Im in the same boat. Looks like low temps next week, but with showers and wind, but there will also be high pressure which is good so who knows

I lean to the later week,
based only on odds of it being colder, the rut does seem earlier this yr, but this past warm spell slowed that right down here
any time from here out is a good time however if you ask me
but I say the nov week for vacation is a better bet

I took the first full week of November. Not sure if I picked the right week. I'm stuck with it so I'll be hunting...lol

I took off Nov 3-12. Temps look to be up in the 60's around the 7-8th but still pretty cool at night. I based my time off on Charles Altzeimer's rut predictions... We'll see..

I'm taking Nov 3-11 off as well. Based on predictions and past experience...best time to be in a stand!

Well, remember there is the full moon starting the 29th. And I was always told you wanna hunt after the new moon. So my vacation starts the 9th.

I think any time between Halloween and Nov. 20th could be a good time to be out.

Hunting all day sunday after this front moves out and if the weather cooperates I will be hunting Nov 2 and 3 and then again on the 9 and 10. Hopefully by Nov 2 that hurricane is moved out of the area. They are saying Tues - Thur high winds 30+mph.

Jimdog,

I climbed down tonight in high winds and decided to hit the rattle pack for a sec. I had a mature buck comes printing in within 5 minutes. So I would say hit em up, it sure can't hurt! Good luck!

My Lord please don't do it as much as the neighbor on an adjacent property last year. The time I heard him the guy barely got up in his climber, making all kinds of racket with it, within a few minutes started rattling like it was WWIII. Did it off and on all evening. WAAAAAY too much!! Seriously, it isn't a magical cure all. If you do, maybe rattle for a little while (less than a minute), only light sparring and WAIT! About 45 minutes to an hour later give it a go again. You don't have to sound like a bomb going off every 15 minutes. Deer may not respond the first time and may get curious the longer you wait. You follow up with another bomb not long later and they know something isn't quite right.

The next two weeks, if the weather is good are the two best weeks, definitely want to get out there before the lock down phase of the rut!

dont know if this helps but last nite my dad saw 2 huge bucks ( lower mich ) just feeding with 11 bald ones an HOUR before dark......i caught a quick look ( this a.m.) at a RACK that crossed the trail of 6 bald ones that walked out to my f.plot, also had a spike walk right past the doe's and just took a quick look @ them..... just FYI
